Schouten Europe unveils new plant-based sausage featuring innovative fat replacer
The Dutch family-owned company Schouten Europe is launching a new plant-based sausage this month. The sausage features an innovative replacement for animal fat, which the company says delivers “unique juiciness.” The new sausage will be available through retail, out-of-home, and food industry channels.

Significant improvement
Schouten, particularly with its meat analogues, continues to enhance products previously introduced to the market. R&D Manager Ruben Molenaar explains: “The meat alternatives category is still relatively young, and we constantly explore ways to create better and healthier products. With this new sausage, we have achieved a major improvement compared to its predecessor in our range.”

Plant-based casing
In addition to the unique fat replacer, the product is also distinguished by its plant-based casing. “This delivers an authentic sausage experience,” says Molenaar. “Traditional sausages use an animal intestine as a casing, but we can now offer this in a fully plant-based way.”

Showcase at Anuga trade fair
Schouten’s new plant-based sausage will be showcased and available for tasting at Anuga in Cologne – the world’s leading trade fair for the food and beverage industry – taking place from October 4 to 8. Schouten will exhibit in the Alternatives Hall 01.2, stand number E021. Samples of a 50-gram version will be available, with 80-gram and 90-gram sausages produced upon request.
