A strong focus on quality and food safety
Every Schouten product is a high-quality and safe product. Thanks to our comprehensive control procedures and proven knowledge of the chain, raw materials, and international laws and regulations, you always get the right product. You will receive this quality guarantee in writing.
Clear about quality
At Schouten, we believe that quality is the last thing you should be worrying about. It’s something our Quality department is happy to do for you. In our business operations, everything is aimed at guaranteeing food safety and consistency in product quality. We have a strong focus on finding discrepancies and we ensure rapid implementation of new safety insights and quality improvements. This way, we always meet the highest quality and safety standards.
At Schouten, we only work with GFSI-certified production locations, of which some are completely meat-free. The locations control their processes down to the last detail and guarantee a high-quality and safe plant-based product. We are even Higher Level IFS-certified. A guarantee that we leave nothing to chance when it comes to quality and food safety. Take a look at our IFS certificate.
The highest quality and safety regulations
“We often apply retail standards when it comes to legislation and regulations. These are the strictest and therefore also applicable for channels such as food service and the food industry.”Laura van Tiel – C&R Manager
An eye for quality during production
How does Schouten supervise the quality and food safety of the vegan and vegetarian products that you order from us?
During production we work with fixed quality control procedures for aspects such as:
- incoming goods
- cleaning effectiveness
- temperature of semi-finished products
- heating process
- weight of finished product
- temperature control in areas and during transport
- metal detection
- visual aspects of finished product
Outside of production we carry out even more checks and analyses in order to guarantee quality and safety:
- organoleptic inspections
- chemical analyses
- microbiological analyses
- environmental research, including on listeria
We store a sample of each production batch until that batch’s expiration date. We keep process and analysis results for at least two years after the expiration date.
Full traceability, bottom-up and top-down, is always possible: with just a name and batch code or expiry date we can provide you with all information. During our internal audits, we regularly check whether we have properly guaranteed traceability.
