Schouten Europe is one of the three nominees for the Foodvalley Champions 2020 in the category Protein Shift. The prize will be awarded during the upcoming Foodvalley Summits on 13 and 14 October in Wageningen, The Netherlands.
According to Foodvalley, Schouten has been nominated for its many innovations with great impact. In addition, Foodvalley indicates that innovation is in Schouten’s DNA. The organization describes the Giessen family business as follows: “Schouten Europe who pioneered the meat replacement market in the nineties, has given the global protein transition ‘taste and crunch’, with countless innovative recipes and ingredients.”
In 1990, Schouten was the first Dutch party to develop meat substitutes based on vegetable proteins. Schouten has one of the most extensive and varied ranges in the world. The products are mostly sold under private label. Schouten works with retailers worldwide; manufacturers of snacks, salads and meals; fast food chains and all kinds of other parties within the industrial, intermediary and institutional market.
